PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix College men's soccer kept its perfect start alive on Saturday night, exploding for seven goals in a 7-0 victory over Chandler-Gilbert Community College at Hoy Stadium. The win is the Bears' seventh in a row and moves them to 7-0-0 overall, 5-0-0 in ACCAC play.
The Bears opened the scoring early when Tiernan Nicewander converted in the 6th minute off a feed from Alan Garibaldy. Nerville Ntui doubled the lead in the 37th minute from Jean Horace Katende, and Raul Martinez scored twice before halftime — once from Jhoan Soto and again from Katende — to make it 4-0 at the break.
Martinez completed his hat trick in the 73rd minute, again assisted by Katende, before Soto found the net twice in the final eight minutes, finishing passes from Ethan DeRubeis and Sergio Jaramillo to cap the 7-0 rout.
Phoenix College dominated every statistical category, outshooting the Coyotes 26-2 (28 shots on goal) and earning 14 corner kicks. Goalkeepers Xavier Rawls and Jan Villegas combined for the clean sheet with one save apiece.
The Bears will look to extend their winning streak to eight games when they travel to Mesa CC on Septmeber 23.
