Phoenix, Ariz. – The Phoenix College women's volleyball team earned a hard-fought home win on Friday night, defeating Chandler-Gilbert Community College 3–2 at Hoy Stadium. The Bears improved to 2–8 overall and 1–2 in ACCAC play.
Phoenix College came out strong, taking the first set 25–21, before dropping the next two sets 17–25 and 18–25. The Bears rallied back to win the fourth set 25–18 and sealed the match with a decisive 15–9 victory in the fifth set.
Key contributors included Debanhi Aguiar with 5 kills, Leah Luevanos hitting .600 with 4 kills and 2 blocks, and Annette Tapia dishing out 10 assists and adding 2 service aces. Lexi Mallonee led the defense with 9 digs, while Penina Vito and Mallonee combined for 4 aces.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday September, 24th. They face Pima in the Bears' Den.
