Duane Eason was named Head Men’s Basketball Coach in 2018, replacing long time coach Matt Gordon.
Coach Eason brings his “94 Feet of Heat” style of play to PC; which consists of a full court pressing defense and dribble drive offensive attack. The results are fast paced and high scoring games. The aggressive style of play is a symbol of his East Coast roots as both a player and coach.
At PC
In his inaugural season, Coach Eason led the Bears to a 14-16 record, missing the playoffs by just one game. Despite missing the playoffs, the team found itself ranked nationally for 2 weeks during the season. Darius Goudeau and Deron Kyle were both named All-ACCAC and All-Region. Goudeau was named 2nd Team All-American, Academic All-American, and was the conference’s leading scorer. The season saw multiple players graduate; and 4 move on to play at the 4 year level.
Prior to PC
Before taking over the men’s basketball program, Coach Eason was the head boys’ basketball coach at Mountain Pointe High School for one season (2017-2018); where he lead the team to a school record 26 wins and it’s first appearance in the AIA 6A State Championship. During the 2016-2017 season, Coach Eason was an assistant under Matt Gordon. He was in charge of working with the post players and the full court press, in a season that ended in the region finals.
Coach Eason is a native of New Jersey where he coached for over 15 years. He coached collegiately as an assistant at Felician College from 2006-2008. The majority of his coaching experience came at the high school varsity level. Eason coached at Bergen Tech HS from 2000-2002, Belleville HS from 2002-2006, Roselle HS (girls) from 2009-2011, Christ the King Prep from 2011-2013, and American History HS from 2013-2016. During his tenure in the Garden State, Eason coached over 30 players that went on to play college basketball, 21 that played at the 4 year scholarship level (NCAA D1 or D2)
Eason played high school baseball and basketball at Hackensack High School in Hackensack, NJ. During his senior year he was named all-state and played in the North/South State All-Star Game for both sports. He was named Athlete of the Week in the first week of April 1993. Although, basketball is his favorite sport, the diamond is where he truly excelled. He was Baseball America Magazine’s 11th ranked outfielder and was a 32nd round draft pick of the Houston Astros in the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft. Eason accepted a baseball scholarship from Troy State University. Coach Eason graduated from New Jersey City University with a BA in English Literature. He holds teacher certificates for English Secondary Education in both New Jersey and Arizona.
