Softball Sweeps Paradise Valley on Sophomore Day

Softball Sweeps Paradise Valley on Sophomore Day

Softball had a fantastic end to their regular season, sweeping Paradise Valley Community College (12-2, 9-0) in a doubleheader on Sophomore Day. The team's success was a collective effort with an impressive performance of Jenna Huey, who hit a home run in each of the two games. Additionally, Asia Jones and Karyn Meier each hit a home run in the first game, while Alexis Ayersman hit a home run in the second game. Loganne Stepp and Alexis Ayersman's pitching efforts played a key role in the team's success over Paradise Valley on the defensive end.

The team also took time to honor their five sophomores (Karyn Meier, Brianna Jorgenson, Bella Angelo, Jenna Huey and Elise Kingston), who played their last regular-season game at Phoenix College. It's always bittersweet to see players move on, but it's great that the team was able to recognize and celebrate their contributions.

Now, the team is gearing up for the Region 1 playoffs, which begin on May 11th. The team will be looking to build on their impressive performance in the regular season and win their fourth consescutive regional championship.

Overall, it seems like the softball team is firing on all cylinders and has a lot of momentum heading into the postseason. With a history of success, fans will undoubtedly be excited to see what the team will accomplish in the coming weeks.

Softball will be the two seed in the NJCAA Region I Division II Tournament where they will face #3 seeded Mesa. Games are held at South Mountain CC.
