Softball showcased their dominance on the field with impressive victories against Central AZ and Paradise Valley in back-to-back doubleheaders. Three out of the four games ended with a shutout win. As a result of their performance last week, Softball continues to climb up the ranks, securing the No. 11 spot (previous No. 13) in the NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings.

 

The Bears have an overall record of 23-6, 16-2 in conference. They have won 14 of their last 16 games. 

Game 1: (11) Phoenix College Bears 5, Paradise Valley Pumas 0:

The team displayed an impressive offensive performance, tallying a total of 7 hits and 4 RBIs.

Key highlights from the game include:

• Danitza Hernandez's standout performance with a double and a home run, contributing 2 RBIs to the team's total.
• Katie Hofmann and Penelope Hurtado both recorded doubles and added 1 RBI each to the scoreboard.
• Brooklyn Gainey showcased her speed on the basepaths, stealing 3 bases.
• Alyssa Tinnin delivered a stellar pitching performance, throwing a complete game shutout while allowing only 2 hits and striking out 8 batters.

Game 2: (11) Phoenix College Bears 8, Paradise Valley Pumas 4:

The team delivered a strong performance at the plate, totaling 10 hits and 8 RBIs.

Key highlights from the game include:

• Mackenzie Manygoats had an outstanding day at the plate, hitting two triples and a home run, while driving in 3 runs.
• Danitza Hernandez, Riley Martens, and Hannah Hill each contributed with a home run, adding to the team's offensive firepower.
• Alexis Ayersman and Brooklyn Gainey both demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing multiple walks and contributing to the team's run production.
• On the defensive side, although there were a few errors, the pitching duo of Alexis Ayersman and Yasmine Bernal combined effectively to limit the opposing team to 4 runs.
