
The Phoenix College Bears continued their impressive run, sweeping a doubleheader against Paradise Valley Community College on the road. With these victories, the Bears extended their winning streak to eight games, improving to 12-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
In Game 1, Phoenix College's offense exploded for 16 runs on 22 hits in just five innings. Harli Noriega and Ava Kupczyk led the charge, each launching home runs and driving in four runs apiece. Bridget Moen contributed three RBIs, while Sofia Herrera and Mackenzie Phillips also added key RBIs to help power the Bears' offense. On the mound, Yasmine Bernal was dominant, tossing four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out one. Sydnee Taylor closed out the final inning, surrendering just one run.
In Game 2, the Bears' bats stayed hot, racking up 22 runs on 17 hits in another five-inning victory. Katie Hofmann had a stellar performance, smashing a home run and driving in seven RBIs, while Harli Noriega (6 RBIs), Mackenzie Phillips (3 RBIs), and Hannah Hill (3 RBIs) all contributed to the offensive explosion. Phoenix College sent five home runs over the fence, with Noriega, Phillips (2), Hofmann, and Hill all going deep. Despite a strong effort from Paradise Valley, who tallied eight runs on eight hits, pitcher Sydnee Taylor secured the win in relief, allowing just one earned run in 2.1 innings.
With momentum on their side, the Bears now look ahead to their next challenge as they return home to face Mesa Community College on Saturday in a doubleheader.
