
With just eight games left in the regular season, the Phoenix College softball team is firmly entrenched as one of the top teams in the country. Currently ranked No. 5 nationally, the Bears have compiled an impressive 45-4 overall record, with a 31-3 mark in ACCAC conference play. Riding a six-game win streak, they've shown no signs of slowing down.
Phoenix College has dominated at home, going 30-1, and proven their resilience on the road with a 14-2 away record. In 49 games, the team has outscored opponents 502-136, boasting a staggering .433 team batting average, a .496 on-base percentage, and a .691 slugging percentage. The Bears have launched 83 home runs this season and are producing nearly 10 runs per game.
Offensive Standouts
Freshman sensation J'kaia' Graves is having a remarkable debut season, leading the team with a .541 batting average. In 49 games, she's racked up 86 hits, 69 runs, and an eye-popping 62 stolen bases, all while maintaining a .570 OBP and .642 SLG.
Catcher Katie Hofmann, a sophomore, has been nothing short of dominant at the plate. She owns a .493 batting average with 18 home runs and a team-high 81 RBIs, while drawing 37 walks and striking out only 11 times.
Freshman infielder Harli Noriega is another power threat, blasting 19 home runs while batting .497. She has 73 hits and 60 RBIs on the season, making her one of the most feared bats in the lineup.
Additional contributions have come from Hannah Hill (.397 AVG, 8 HR), Mackenzie Phillips (.374 AVG, 15 HR), and Olivia Deford (.447 AVG, 25 SB), providing depth and consistent production throughout the batting order.
Dominant Pitching Rotation
The Bears' pitching staff has been anchored by sophomore Yasmine Bernal, who holds a 21-3 record over 27 appearances. She's pitched 132.1 innings, striking out 152 batters with a 2.43 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.
Freshman Maddison Peter has been equally impressive, posting a 19-0 record and 100 strikeouts in 116 innings pitched. She carries a 2.90 ERA and has allowed just 15 home runs all season.
The staff as a whole has held opponents to a .225 batting average and a 2.73 ERA, striking out 299 hitters while allowing only 267 hits in nearly 300 innings of work.
Solid Defense
Defensively, Phoenix College has a team fielding percentage of .948. Catcher Katie Hofmann has been especially reliable behind the plate, committing just one error in 163 chances while throwing out three would-be base stealers. Infielder Hannah Hill leads the team in total chances (202) and has turned 10 double plays.
Postseason Outlook
With only a handful of regular season games remaining, Phoenix College is positioning itself for a strong postseason push. The Bears have already proven themselves as a complete team—combining elite-level hitting, power pitching, and solid defense. If their current trajectory continues, they'll be a serious contender for a national title.
