The Phoenix College women's soccer team (14-2-1) added another layer to its Division II rivalry with Pima Community College (13-2-1) on Saturday as the teams battled it out in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Finals on Saturday in Phoenix.
- The No. 1 Bears and the No. 2 Aztecs played 110 minutes resulting in a 0-0 tie, but the Bears claimed the region crown after winning the penalty kick session 3-1.
- The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the PK session after two rounds as freshman Scott sophomore Acosta of Pima had their shots blocked by keeper Jennifer Alvillar.
- The Bears scored on their fifth attempt to take home the hardware after a back and forth battle in kickoff attempts.
- Jennifer Alvillar finished the game with five saves.
The 2021 National Champions and are looking for a back-to-back title win.
The Bears await the NJCAA Division II selection show on Monday, November 7 for the National Championships held at Kino North Sports Complex from November 14-19.
