Phoenix College Women’s Soccer Edges Glendale 2–1 in Road Win

The Phoenix College Bears earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Glendale Community College Tuesday afternoon in Glendale. The Bears improved their overall record with the win, continuing strong play through conference competition.

Glendale struck first in the 45th minute when April Ramos finished a rebound, putting the home side up 1–0 at the half. But Phoenix responded early in the second half, leveling the score in the 48th minute when Carmen Coronado, assisted by Giselle German, buried a one-hopping shot. Later, in the 78th minute, Amaya Hernandez delivered the go-ahead goal off a play created by Yaritza Duncan, finding the corner to push Phoenix ahead 2–1.

The Bears outshot Glendale 19–9, including 13 shots on goal to Glendale's 5. Goalkeeper Bijou Holm made one key save over 90 minutes to preserve the win, allowing just one goal on two shots on target.
